I was doing some work on my iPhone when all of a sudden this message popped coming from Google telling me me I ha 44 virus on my iPhone and directing me to what appeared to be the App Store. They also sent me two emails Google - Security Alert for me@gmail.com. The only thing I can of is I downloaded X last night from Apple App Store and only used it to contact and the chat was on their secure line
im thinking that this is a scam but I just want to be sure

Yes, it's almost certainly either a scam or an advert. You dont say what you were doing at the time the advert popped up? Presumably just browsing the web?

Google are not scanning your iPhone for viruses. This looks like a scam0

You won't have 44 viruses. Were the emails real security alerts? If you were browsing on Safari you can read this to stop some pop ups.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid0

The clue is that an iPhone user is being directed to the Google Play Store.
