Payment Plan for one month rental arears

Hi - I have recently been hit by a tax bill and will inform the letting agency that I wont be able pay this months rent 1st May
How likely is it they would entertain a payment plan?

You would be better agreeing a payment plan with HMRC, they are usually quite agreeable unless the debt is the result of fraud. How were you "hit" with a tax bill?

They probably will not as such, but have little choice in the short term, in the long term it will likely mean they will look to evict you and it would also make renting more difficult in the future.

OOO no, don't. Pay your rent. They are entitled to slap interest on it if it's late ( check your tenancy) and if you can't even pay it all a few days late you're on the slippery road to eviction. What about next month's rent?
It would be better to have a payment plan for the tax bill, HMRC can't make you homeless.
(I'm a landlord BTW and I wouldn't entertain such an idea)

If you're struggling to pay the rent for a single month then you need to find somewhere cheaper to live

I think you need to talk to debt charities / debt advice. Rent / mortgage should be one of the very last things you default on - you can lose your home ultimately. I’d be talking to HMRC about the tax bill and a payment plan there. Do not just not pay your May rent.

I had a big HMRC tax bill and was able to negotiate a three year repayment plan with them.

Pay your rent in full and negotiate a repayment of the tax.

The plan better for the future tax bill!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Nonsense. When I was younger and had kids, I lived from hand to mouth. Hence why I was renting.
