I also wonder how the Universal Credit system numbers claiming increasing by the retirement age changes.
The Pensions Act 2007 provided for further increases:
To 66 between 2024 and 2026.
To 67 by 2028.
To 68 by 2046 (though this may be brought forward).

UC should now warn you 4-months before you reach SPA with details of how to claim Stare Pension, Pension Credit, and Housing Benefit.I assume that is done on the journal rather than by letter, but I'm a number of months off that still.0

I can't believe how quick the time has gone. I can remember you saying you had 7 years until SPA and that time has flown past.Newcad said:UC should now warn you 4-months before you reach SPA with details of how to claim Stare Pension, Pension Credit, and Housing Benefit.I assume that is done on the journal rather than by letter, but I'm a number of months off that still.0 -
The increase in numbers claiming UC rather than State Pension also spills over into the current debate about increasing LCW/LCWRA numbers (older people are more likely to have Limited Capability for Work....).As such it's probably not up for discussion here - except on the thread where such discussion was invited?0

Yes, I think that topic will be useful if kept active but will be pushed down out of sight.Newcad said:The increase in numbers claiming UC rather than State Pension also spills over into the current debate about increasing LCW/LCWRA numbers (older people are more likely to have Limited Capability for Work....).As such it's probably not up for discussion here - except on the thread where such discussion was invited?0
