Visiting Florence, Saturday or Sunday

You cannot go in the Duomo itself on a Sunday https://duomo.firenze.it/en/discover/cathedral 

You can go into the ticketed parts like the dome though.

It was the Duomo in Pisa I was referring to, visiting on Saturday. I think I'll be all Duomo-d out after that and not need the one in Firenze. Not religious.

We have been to Firenze once before by car and got a ticket (arrived 9 months later), which somewhat put OH off going again, but this time will be by train.

Irrelevant for train travellers but for those driving, I'd recommend the park and ride facility beside the motorway, connecting with trams into the city centre:

Thanks. It was a ticket for driving down a street with a no entry sign we think.
