Travel Insurance - Awaiting Tests

I appreciate the OP doesnt want to cancel the holiday, nobody would. But you would think the insurance company has a requirement to allow a holiday to be cancelled due to the unforseen medical change if the insurance are not prepared to offer the cover during the travel. Seems a major flaw in travel insurance if you cant have it one way or another when thats one of the reasons for taking insurance to cover unexpected medical events.0

According to the annual policy document (page 9) on Staysure web site atFor "Changes to your health"A member of the team will ask you specific questions about your medical condition(s). This may result in an additional premium to allow cover to continue, or we may add additional Terms and Conditions to your policy or exclude cover for the newly diagnosed condition or for the condition that has undergone significant change. We may require you to obtain a Medical Report from your doctor, or consultant to allow us to assess whether cover can continue. Obtaining this Medical Report is at your own expense. Based on our assessment of the medical information supplied to us, we will decide whether we can continue to insure you, and on what basis. If we are unable to continue to provide cover, or if you do not wish to pay the additional premium you will be entitled to make a claim under Section 1 (Cancellation) for costs which cannot be recovered elsewhere for trips booked prior to the change in health.Alternatively, you will be entitled to cancel your policy, in which case, we will refund a proportionate amount of your premium. Please note that your doctor, or consultant telling you that you are well enough to travel does not mean that you will be covered for your pre-existing medical condition(s). If you have any concerns regarding whether or not you will be covered, please contact Staysure Customer Services.
So if the OP couldnt get satisfactory info Staysure will accept to provide cover then it would seem they would be able to unfortunately cancel the holiday and make a claim.0 -

Update
I have found an insurance company through a broker who has found cover despite her waiting for tests. This is good. I just need to read through the cover details as I am skeptical as the questionnaire I filled in clearly shows, waiting for tests/investigation as YES and has been verified by the broker. But when I look at the same questionnaire in the quote it has been switched to NO. I am assured it's a glitch, and the broker emailed me a copy of the questionnaire we filled. in with them to generate the quotes.
To also add that we are paying to see someone privately, and if she needs the tests outlined, then we will pay for them. This all can be done well before we go away.
Cancellation could still be an option, but Staysure are being so evasive on this, hence a complaint raised.0 -
Good to hear you are hopefully still on track for a holiday, fingers crossed.0
