Looking to buy an e-reader but not sure if dark mode works as I would like it to.

Hello,
I am looking to buy an e-reader, specifically a Kobo Libra Colour. I know that dark mode works on the pages themselves, turning the page black and the text white but I want the entire thing to be in dark mode. So on the landing/home page and your library, is the background also black?
If you have a Kindle colorsoft I would also like to know if this is the case?
Also is it possible to have the background in dark mode but the pages themselves in light mode (I would change the lighting to 'very warm'/yellow for pages)?
Unfortunately these features are blocked from being changed in store displays for the Colorsoft, so I cannot try it out myself. I have been trying to find any London shop that has a Kobo on display for weeks but to no avail. A number of shops don't appear to have them in stock either. I've contacted Argos, Curry's (and been to many stores), WH Smiths and John Lewis. Nada. I haven't seen anything since just before Christmas 2024.
Any info on this would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Why not order one online and then you have 14 days to try it before deciding if you want to keep it.0
