My father recently passed away and i am helping my mum with finances and other stuff she needs to do.
When i contacted DWP to advise them of my fathers passing, they advised about mum applying for pension credit and she will also get some help towards funeral costs...
Now i am not being greedy, buth both my mum and dad have worked their entire lives and paid their taxes, and deserve anything that is owed to them
They had savings of over £100k and are mortgage free, house is probably worth £130k.
Is there any point in even applying???

I'm sorry for your loss.
How much state pension does she get in her own right ?
Have DWP advised yet on whether that amount will change as a result of your fathers death ?
Does she have any private pensions ?
Did your father have a defiined benefit private pension which she may now get a spouses pension from ?
As I understand it, that level of savings won't automatically make her ineligible for Pension Credit, but there will be an assumed income from it of £1 for every £500 over £10,000, which may mean that combined with her State and any other pension income she is over the weekly income criteria.

I always find it strange that you can live in a million pound house that is paid for but have minimal savings and you could be eligible for full pension credit, however you can live in a 130k home have say 90k in savings but only get substantially reduced pension credit.
Of those 2 scenarios who is wealthier? It's just my opinion and not advice.1
