Does the Party Wall Act apply to sound proofing a shared wall

Good morning,
I’m about to get quotes to sound proof a shared internal wall. It’s just occurred to be that the PWA might apply as technically I’m thickening the wall. However, I am not sure it’s necessary as I’m not affecting the neighbour’s wall.
Does anyone know?

I doubt there is a definitive answer. As you have identified it depends on whether what you are doing is thickening the wall. I would argue that fixing a bit of lightweight insulation is not. Whether what you are doing will have the desired effect is another question - if it is to stop sounds you are making penetrate through the wall then probably yes. If it is to stop sounds your neighbour is making then it will be less effective.1

No PWA issue there. You are adding thickness to your side, and not affecting the wall in any structural way.1
