Virgin Points, is it worth it?

I have just done a trip to Mumbai and Vietnam, and so far had a good experience with Virgin. They also partner with Vietnam airlines so you can transfer points. There were 9 people in the family so thinking of opening a family account to collect these points. I would prefer to break my journey in Mumbai (it works out a cheaper too when going to the far east!) so quite happy to stick with virgin for this aspect of the flight. I only have one credit card, but was thinking of getting an Amex or one of the Virgin cards to collect points. Which would be better. I get lounge access but only 2 visits a year from ICICI bank. The lounge access would be super handy, especially if I have an internal connecting flight like in Ho Chi Minh city. Love to hear thoughts on virgin points, and what benefits people have had. Cheers.

Used to have a vast amount of their points as they were a former clients preferred airline was going over to the US every few weeks. They are reasonable, like most airlines you get most value out of flying via higher tiers of cabin.
Their flight destinations are more unstable than most and they've dropped several places we'd have used them for for holidays. Have flown their old upper class many times, last time in 2020, but not tried their new upperclass which had been released then but not rolled out far... was looking dated last time we flew.
Personally prefer AmEx MR cards because your points dont expire with them and you an transfer to VS, BA or a range of other airlines rather than being stuck with a particular airline/their partners and their destinations.0 -
Yes, sorry meant VS. Personally I like the service, staff are very polite. Good allowance. The LHR to BOM is very popular, I believe both BA, Virgin and Air India have 2 slots / day for this journey, so there is some choice.0
