Come October I will start collecting my state pension. I am eligible for the full state pension. Just wondering whether my rent will be paid in full. Its a housing association low rent in London and I live alone. Also I have under £10,000 lump sum in a pension I haven't touched

Unlikely to be paid in full unless you are eligible for pension credit but you should get a decent chunk paid for you. use one of the online benefit calculators, the Age Uk one is pretty accurate.1

You may need to apply again for housing benefit - that's a common thing where I am (not near London)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. As said above use one of the benefit calculators and enter the numbers for your income/capital as if you were already getting your State Pension. That should tell you what Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction you can expect.0

And putting in your age as if already over state pension age (just in case that slips anyone's mind).Newcad said:As said above use one of the benefit calculators and enter the numbers for your income/capital as if you were already getting your State Pension. That should tell you what Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction you can expect.

When I retired I had a state pension and 2 small works pensions. My income was too high for Pension Credit but I got more than half my rent and Council Tax paid. This was for an over 60s HA property.
My increasing health issues made me eligible for Attendance Allowance. When I got that I got all my rent and council tax paid. I also became eligible for Pension Credit. I don’t get a lot but it meant I get the Winter Fuel Allowance that caused all the problems recently. What was interesting was when I emailed the council to tell them about the AA they emailed me back almost immediately to say they already knew.
