Co-op Bank Everyday Extra account - raising travel insurance cover to £18 monthly

Effective 1st July 2025.
They became a subsidiary of the Coventry Building Society on 1st January - the new owners are making changes obviously.
To be realistic I'm not sure how they mananged to maintain the monthly fee at £15 for so many years.
Still a good deal deal, especially as a joint account IMO, as the age limit extends to 80, unlike nearly all other providers - and in my experience they will accept certain pre-existing conditions (such as Hypertension) without an additional annual premium. More serious or significant problems are a different scenario of course.
I might look at the Nationwide Flex Plus account which is the same monthly deal, although they are less accommodating on pre-existing conditions.

Co_Op have a 45 day limit on travel. Nationwide do not HOWEVER the extension costs are exhorbitant and only apply to that one off trip in the year (Used to be for the annual time)
Co_op insure up to 79
Nationwide have no limit (IIRC)
CoOp have NO excess on claims
Nationwide have £100
Mrs B's pre existing conditions are cover with an extra £50
Nationwide wanted £200!
CoOp joint account covers us both for £18
Co_op suits me.

We have only had to attempt one claim with the Co-op (AXA) over the years we have had the policy - and it was really hard work and eventually rejected. No quibble over the grounds for the rejection, however I had to deal with various different customer reps over several weeks before getting to the chase - only to be eventually advised the claim handler was based in Mexico !!!Certainly no Speedy Gonzales !!!There is a branch of Nationwide a few miles away and that suits me fine. Each to their own.

Some Lloyds accounts cover to age 80. I have a Gold Account, not available to new customers, and have to declare all pre-existing medical conditions because I have one not on the no-declare list. The irony, for me, is that the condition I have to declare was previously on the no-declare list and there is still no additional charge for it. Makes no sense to me, but I'll go along with it if it means I don't have to cough up for 3rd party insurance.0

FlexPlus (Aviva) has no upper age limit now - it's all based on health status, so should appeal to the over 80s who are in the pink.0

Went round the houses to claim, very poor performance on their call handlers-who I assume do NOT work in the local branch
Eventually raised a complaint after being fobbed off several times.
Got paid and they waived the excess
IMHO Insurance is easy to pay the premiums but you never know how hard it will be to get a payout.0 -

Suggesting he thinks the local nearby Nwide would help with any claims0 -
Nationwide also includes other cover not just travel insurance so european breakdown as well as UK and mobile cover too. Not sure if Coop includes those too.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0

Suggesting he thinks the local nearby Nwide would help with any claimsAs opposed to the single Co-op Branch up here over 30 miles away, which is obviously not convenient.
