ebay unpaid item strangeness

I accepted a best offer on an item over a week ago.
Buyer has not paid or responded to messages.

The odd part, on the 'order details' page the 'sold' date is stuck at yesterday's date. And is rolling forward every day,

If I try to cancel the sale using the reason 'buyer has not paid' I just get the message about the buyer having 4 days to pay.. anyone else experiencing this?

I though Best Offers were automatically paid for once they were accepted nowadays.

The seller has 24 hours to decide whether to accept or decline your offer. They can also suggest another price. If they don't respond to you in that time, or if the listing ends before they respond, then your offer expires.

Have you tried sending an invoice?
Is the listing still active?

@savergrant private sellers can’t send invoices anymore, except when the system glitches of course, and we all know it does that! So we have the old system still in place for buyers without immediate payment facilities set up where nothing happens and a seller has to just wait, but that is now badly combined with a system where seller can’t send an invoice and just has to wait it out. 

@se2020 I’ve mentioned this before on here , happened to me last year after they bought in the immediate payment on some accounts, but not all. I spoke to eBay CS who were their usual unhelpful self, but basically on day 4 of being unpaid it showed up as live and available on my active list again, just as though no offer had been accepted. I’ve had it happen again since, on one occasion buyer paid on about day 2 and I sent as normal, the other one I can recall just switched back to live again after about 4 days. The one that was paid for showed as sold on the day of payment, and I had my usual 2 day despatch time to send.
