Carers allowance nightmare

Options
I wonder if anyone can give us some advice. My partner used to be the carer for their ex until they split. Their ex used to receive the benefit into their bank account. When they split my partner informed the carers DWP unit andall was ok. She then got UC for a while until she received correspondence saying she was still getting carers allowance and would need to repay £x. She spoke to her ex who said they were not receiving anything. My partner then phoned and wrote to confirm they were not receiving the allowance any longer. DWP still maintain she is getting it. We don't know where to go from here as phone calls and getting us nowhere and letters seem to go unanswered. There doesn't seem to be an email address for the carers allowance unit. Any advice appreciated.

It appears from your post that the Carer's allowance was going directly into your partner's ex's bank account.  Was this a joint account or an account in your partner's ex's name.

I suggest your partner telephones and asks for the name and bank account number into which the Carer's Allowance has been paid and then you will know, which ,at least, will help you move the matter forward.

It was a joint account but again when they split she informed the bank and therefore no longer has access

I am presuming that the ex retained the joint account  as a single account. Then it is possible that the ex is telling porkies and the CA is going into the account.

As above, ask the CA what bank account the money has gone into and then explain the situation.
