Credit cards for temporary employed people

Options
Hi everyone!
I was hoping for some guidance on applying for my first credit card while on a temporary contract with work.
I’m currently on a one year fixed term contract with my work and want to build up my credit score.
I had checked Tesco’s Foundation Credit Card to see if I was eligible, but they said because I’m in temporary employment that I wouldn’t be eligible.
Would anyone know any good starter credit cards that would accept me?
I know very little about credit cards but my main goal is to build up my credit rating!

Many thanks for your help!

Try a few eligibility checks with some of the credit-builder cards - there's a guide on some of the available ones here: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/credit-builder/
The thing you do need to be really careful about is what you put on the application form when it asks for income.  In my experience they almost always ask "Do you expect your income to go down in the near future", or words to that effect.  If you lie and get found out, you could end up with a fraud marker on your file which is not good, to put it mildly.
Whilst responsible use of a credit card is an easy way to build up your credit history (ignore your meaningless score), you may well find that avenue is not available to you if you don't have permanent employment, or other source of regular income.  But any other credit product (a mobile phone contract is a common one) will go some way to building up some history - though don't go shelling out on an expensive contract just for the sake of it.  There's no sense in paying money purely to build up a history.

You're a fixed term employee not a temporary employee.

Obviously, if there is an FTC option select that plus if you've been advised that the contract will not be renewed then you have to disclose but otherwise be tactical with the information provided whilst never lying.

Some applications (e.g. mortgage) will make a distinction but many won't; a reasonable amount of employers have staff on FTCs for extended periods of time, renewing each time or later simply re-issue contracts with no time limit (i.e. permanent) without a break in employment.
