Just tried to cancel my order, as the said item is too big for my newly built room, due to the floor having had to be raised whilst building it, have offered to buy a , small sofa from them, this was immediately declined, the manager said i would lose the deposit, even though the sofa has not arrived in the showroom yet, he said as this was a cancelled order, they would have to sell it at a reduced price, it was not a specific order, just bog standard.
any advise would be appreciated, i have told them i willl not take delivery of the sofa as will not fit,0

If it was an in-store order, or you tried it in store and ordered online, you have no statutory right to a refund of your full deposit.Harvey44 said:Just tried to cancel my order, as the said item is too big for my newly built room, due to the floor having had to be raised whilst building it, have offered to buy a , small sofa from them, this was immediately declined, the manager said i would lose the deposit, even though the sofa has not arrived in the showroom yet, he said as this was a cancelled order, they would have to sell it at a reduced price, it was not a specific order, just bog standard.

If you ordered online, you can cancel the order for a refund by returning it unused within 14 days of receiving it.
I am curious about the dimensions. Are you saying it's too tall for the room?!1

I am struggling to imagine how a sofa can be too big just because the final floor level ended up a bit higher than expected.Harvey44 said:Just tried to cancel my order, as the said item is too big for my newly built room, due to the floor having had to be raised whilst building it, have offered to buy a , small sofa from them, this was immediately declined, the manager said i would lose the deposit, even though the sofa has not arrived in the showroom yet, he said as this was a cancelled order, they would have to sell it at a reduced price, it was not a specific order, just bog standard.

We live in an age of big sofas and tiny houses, and many of those sofas have to be stood up on end just to get to their destination.0

Is it that the doorway is now a few inches shorter and that was the only way of getting the sofa into the room?Grumpy_chap said:
