Octopus Tracker

Hello again all. Now that the worst of the winter is (hopefully) over with, I have a simple question requiring a simple answer. Is Octopus’s Tracker tariff worth sticking with through the cold months? I chickened out this winter, and I am now on a fix. But tempted to return to the Tracker when I am able to, and stick with it through next winter. Thoughts please. Thank you.

I think the coming winter will we warmer than usual.  This should mean that energy prices reduce.  Actions by Donald Trump should also make energy cheaper.  So a tracker might  be a good idea.
But personally I avoid speculating. I take a fixed rate deal with no exit charge.  I change tariff whenever I see a cheaper fixed rate deal appear (again, with no exit charge).

Thank you for that. Yes, that is also a consideration. I am currently on the Octopus 14 month fix. However, the price cap is predicted to be lowered from July onwards, so there should be cheaper fixes available after that (in theory). So I may just fix again later in the year. See what happens

It looks like Octopus are starting to put exit fees on their fixed tariffs.

I guess too many might be switching shortly after agreeing to a tariff?

The April v4 fix had exit fees, as that seemed to a special "we've bought a ton of fuel at xyz price, so need to lock you in", but the fix available now is V2 again, without exit fees.

Looks like a few of the other more specialised ones have them too.

So I think we just need to pay attention to the text at the bottom of the tariff boxes.

Which is somewhat two faced given previous comments they made. I guess when you get to a certain size you ignore everything you said previously.

Alas the Internet never forget, even when they come out with some nonsense to justify it.
