I just had an alloy repaired (my fault). Cost £72

Halfords should be prepared to either get them repaired or give you the money to do so.

How many are damaged? Do they admit it?

Have they said why? What have they offered to resolve it? You write "alloys", i.e. more than one damaged?
I have had alloy wheels damaged, twice now, when having tyres fitted. The first was Tyres On The Drive, owned by Halfords, they bought a brand new alloy wheel, attended and swapped the tyre over.
The second was a local tyre place and they had the wheel repaired, no hesitation.

Do you have legal expenses protection as part of your home insurance? If so, call the Legal Helpline provided by your insurer.

The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

You will need to give far more information than that if you want any useful advice.

    Let's see the damage.

If it's minor, then "proper repair" (by which I assume you mean a complete refurb) or replacement may be utterly disproportionate.
