Lost shares

Hi, my dad died in 2021 and my mum and us kids were left to sort out his estate, find lost shares, bank accounts etc. We thought all were found and dealt with and went through probate, but recently my mum has been contacted by a financing company telling her my dad had shares in the Tata/Corus the company he worked for (and I think were offering to buy them and have sent my mum a ND agreement). Anyway, is there is a way of my mum finding out if my dad did have these shares as we have no records of it and don't necessarily want to go through this financing company to find out. Thanks

You could try writing to Tata Steel UK, which may be where shares in Corus ended up (but may not be, it's been quite a convoluted ownership story), the registered address is:
Tata Steel UK Limited, 18 Grosvenor Place, London, SW1X 7HS

Just a warning here, but be careful about any contact you make with this 'company' as this could be a scam. There have been reports out in the googleverse about scams targeting corus current and former employees and offering to buy their shares, so just be careful, which it sounds you are being.

I'm also not sure why a non-disclosure agreement would be needed if this was all completely upfront, I'd say it's more a hallmark of scams where a ND can be used as a means to keep someone from mentioning it to their friends/relatives who may then try to make them see sense.

Hopefully this isn't a scam, but in today's world it usually proves wisest to treat any unsolicited call with great caution.

You could try, Equiniti, they are genuine, and are registrars for many companies, alternative number 0371 384 2030.

Thank you everyone, I will try those routes to finding out, and yes my mum was worried it was a scam so she won't be signing any non disclosure forms any time soon! Many thanks
