Lloyds debit card not automatically replaced

My Lloyds debit card expires soon and they’ve said that being as I haven’t used it in 12 months they won’t bother replacing it unless I ask.
I’m in two minds whether to bother as it’s clearly not something I use. I’ve read that it’s now good for overseas use but I already have a handful of options in that regard.
I’m leaning towards going card-less on the account for now.
I thought that it’s worth posting for others in the same position.

I've had similar messages from both Starling and Chase; they won't send me new cards unless I request them.1

Does the virtual card in the app which you can use in Google / Apply play renew?0

Note that no card=no card number=means no current account switching.
I now keep tabs on my "empty but retained"/"card in a wallet in the drawer" accounts and ensure that they get used at some point in the year before expiry to avoid the "not going to replace it" thing.

The last few times I've switched banks, I've always been asked whether I have a debit card on the account I'm wanting to switch. If you have one, you must provide the card number or the switch will fail, but if you don't have one you just tick the box to say so and the switch should proceed as normal.4
