Morning all, thanks @Scarlet for the start. We've had some rain overnight and it's looking dull. Today should be mainly dry but there could an occasional light shower. I miss the sun already!
I emptied the pantry yesterday in readiness for today's gas boiler service and have checked the dates on tins, packets etc. I found a few items that need using up and these have been added to my Use Up list. Tbf, most of what's on that list is baking stuff so it will get used in due course, especially as I prefer home baked goods and shop bought ones are getting so expensive. It's also focused my mind on what I don't need any more of. I've already sorted through the empty jars, storage boxes and their lids - for once there are no odd ones.To say it's a small pantry, it's amazing what fits in there; as well as food stuffs there are x3 laundry baskets, vac, carpet sweeper, mop/bucket, brush & dustpan, various small kitchen appliances (SC, FP, blender, iron etc), a small stepladder and a first aid cabinet. And the boiler, of course! A very useful space.
The engineer is due sometime between noon and 4 pm; I hope it's sooner rather than later and he's not late like yours @Chrisca. It shouldn't take long as it's just the boiler (no other gas appliances) then I can get on with wiping the shelves and mopping the floor before everything goes back in. While he's here I'll sort through a folder that contains guarantees, manuals etc to see if there's anything that can be pruned.
Have a good day, hugs for the Poodles and those caring for others, be it family, friends or neighbours - your kindness will mean so much. Take care all. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
Hi everyone,
Coxy, I hope you can make up the time on your walk.
Ruby, how lovely, I hope they enjoy their eggs. I bought Easter gifts for the grandchildren rather than chocolate eggs because they get too many and they go to waste as it is. Laura bought some for an egg hunt but Brian put the bag down on the floor of the airbnb they were in last week and it has underfloor heating so some are decidedly the worse for wear.
Camelot, well done it's definitely a good idea.
I spoke to Laura a little while ago. It was Brian's birthday on Saturday and they'd hired a private chef. She said it was lovely to be cooked for and cleared up after. I couldn't resist commenting it was just like home then. I do probably 98% of the cooking and Steve nearly always clears up afterwards. Mind you there are a lot of them there, at the weekend it wasn't so bad, about 9 of them but Laura said they now had 18 adults and children. It must be a squeeze because the main house comfortably sleeps 12 and the gatehouse 4, I'm sure they will manage though, the main house has what used to be the local pub and is still set up like that but is used a the games room so they'll have fun.
Steve is golfing and I want to get on with my tasks. I decided to do one tidying task, one deep cleaning task and one houseplant maintenance task. Yesterday I repotted a plant and set some cuttings to grow (hopefully), sorted out the kitchen table (aka dumping surface) and scrubbed the skirtings in the hall. Today I shall do my desk and clean the staircase I think. I've not quite decided on the plant task.
Have a good day.9
