Manchester Airport drop off

Hi,
On Saturday, I dropped my son off at Manchester Airport T1, and realised fleetingly at the barrier that I didn't need to pay there and then, as they have an ANPR. I quickly read that you need to go to the airport website and pay. I went on a work trip then got home this morning.
Today I've just done it and it will only allow you to do that within 2 days - after that they will mail with a fee of £60! I presume they will need to grab the details from the DVLA so this will take a few days?
I'll admit that I've not complied with their T&Cs, but doesn't this seem a bit quick? Surely they should allow more time than 48 hours to pay?
I've dropped loads of people off here over the years, and have always paid the £5 at the exit.

Its actually more than some things allow (pretty sure the Tyne Tunnel and the Dartford Crossing only give you one day)3

New rules implemented recently at that airport
I doubt that there are any mandatory rules on what they can or cant do, especially on time limits1 -

I dont think that APCOA are involved ( or Vcs Or UKPPO ) , I don't believe that any private parking company is involved, they certainly weren't prior to the new barrierless system

Edit
But the payment system seems to involve APCOA
https://pay.manchesterairport.co.uk/
Yet none of the recent press mentioned APCOA1 -

Ncp used to be end of the next day in some Manchester car parks, so Manchester airport is the same, which is also the same at the London airports and Birmingham too. MAG also operates East Midlands airport which also has the end of the following day as their deadline
I am not sure what you are expecting for grace periods to pay ? What is your yardstick for the limits ?
I suppose that Manchester now needs adding to the group thread1 -
Looking at the website everything is APCOA and you will receive a PCN from APCOA.2

Oh dear!!! Ignore the time they allow to pay. If you have any bottle, you never have to pay again at any airport with rip of, drop-off fees, as long as there are no barriers.
Just appeal as the Keeper and refer them to the answer given in Arkell v Pressdram (1971) because they cannot rely on PoFA to transfer liability from the driver, who is unknown to them, as the airport is under statutory control (byelaws).
That's it... simple. I have no idea why there is discussion about irrelevant deadlines for paying a rip off fee in the first place.
