Complete newbie just looking for a bit of advice and the best way to proceed or the likely hood I will get a postitive resolution.

TLDR:
Boiler service with OVO, started leaking after, contacted them and they are tryin to charge for resolution.

Full Details
Boiler was serviced by OVO on the 8th, after the service was complete I left the premises as house sitting for my parents, next morning girlfriend tells she thinks the boiler is leaking as there is small puddle under the boiler, which has never been there before.
I return home on night time on the 13th and confirm the boiler is indeed leaking.
Phone OVO on the 14th to inform them of this at which point I'm told they won't do anything about it as I didn't phone on the day of the service and if I want it repaired I am advised to take out a Boiler Cover plan or pay a Engineer to come out.
Girlfirend didn't phone the next day as its only my name on the bill so she didn't think she could.

I have now lodged a complaint with them as I believe this to be unfair and I am awaiting a call from their customer complaints team.

The boiler is still working at the moment and there are no venerable people living there.
Am I being naive in thinking they will resolve my issue for me, is there anything else I can do to help my case. Or should I cut my potential losses and just pay before it becomes real damage to the boiler?

 Any thoghts or advice appreciated

You need to get someone out to look at the boiler.  Currently we don't know if the leak was caused by something the engineer did, or a part that failed after the engineer left.  Obviously if the original engineer caused the leak then OVO would have to cover the costs.

Thank you, already trying to find someone who can get by this week.
Seems likely it is something the engineer done but understand there is always a slim chance something failed in the 18 hours between the engineer leaving the other half discovering the leak
