Liability insurance for a rented property for a pet

Hi Everyone, I’ve got a different query today my landlord has said I can have a pet, a dog, but to be able to have the dog I need liability insurance for the rented property in case the dog causes any damage. I’m having a bit of an issue trying to find this type of insurance and does anyone know any providers that does actually provide it? I’ve done so many different quotes and all of them seem to not have anything to do with a rented property both pet insurance and house insurance. Some I have tried are: Petguard, Animal Friends, Pet Protect, Cooperatove Pet and Renters Insurance.

Are you wanting to tick the box or are you actually wanting to be covered for the damage?
Most Contents insurance includes Tenant Liability and certainly some dont have an overarching exclusion on pets. However a claim would be for an incident, with an excess payable per incident, so if your dog on 4 different occasions chewed different parts of the landlords furniture then that would be 4 claims and 4 excesses to pay which would means its unlikely to be economical to actually claim but you can show him you do have liability insurance for the animal causing damage0
