Parking eye appeal

Options
Basically i went to a gym for a year typicall on the last day it shut down i forgot to put my reg in
So i appealed with evidence of membership but they still said i broke the rules
Anyway i went on holiday for a month and totally forgot to pay now its gone up to 100 and have said 14 days payment before its taken further to court

Should i just ignore it or will they actually follow through with it
I really shouldn't be paying this as i was a legit member of the gym

You should read the NEWBIES Announcement thread and try Plan A first it's often successful  - email complaint to landowner or the gym if still in business ask them to cancel pcn.

Successful complaints about private parking tickets - how to get them cancelled!

Think you've missed POPLA appeal stage but likely they would have rejected your appeal too.

Read Post 4 Debt Collectors stage then Post 2 Small Claim so your aware of what happens if PE file a claim.

    Of course. You'd win.

I'm so glad you didn't pay.  Why on earth would you do that?!

Was this a Puregym? Which parking firm?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

That's exactly what PP industry promotes and operators hope for, motorists to pay because they don't have the time to fight it. Easy money keeps parking firms in business making huge profits.

Motorists are emailing their MP, groups and MP's are pushing for Govt to regulate PP industry maybe you could find time to support by simply signing some of the parking petitions. 🙏

Do not ignore a 30 day letter of claim from ParkingEye/Legal firm or a Court Claim form.

They are, but you only need to read the NEWBIES thread posts in bold to focus yourself.

If you were given 14 days to pay, that was likely from a debt collection agent, they can be ignored.  What you cannot ignore is a letter before/of claim, which will give you 30 days notice.  Follow the instructions given here: -

You say the gym has been taken over but was this the hotel's car park, and the gym was just leasing a part of the site?
If so it is more likely that Parking Eye are contracted to the hotel who you should be complaining to.
Paying a scammer because they are hassling you is exactly why the proliferation of these scams gets worse.
And lets be honest if Parking Eye were acting as a car park management company your appeal to their invoice should have been upheld with your evidence, or at least reduced to £20, but no it's just a greedy scam.
