Hyundai vs. Honda Self-Propelled Petrol Lawnmowers - Need Your Wisdom!
Hi,
I'm in the market for a new self-propelled lawnmower and have narrowed it down to two brands: Hyundai and Honda.
I'm looking for something reliable and durable. I've been doing some initial research, but I'd really value the real-world experiences and opinions of people who have actually owned or used lawnmowers from either of these manufacturers.
Any insights you can offer on Hyundai or a Honda self-propelled petrol mowers would be appreciated as I try to make this decision!
Thanks

My Honda HR 216 from 1985 still starts first pull, bags the grass efficiently, and never needs topping-up between oil changes. Obviously, they don't make them quite like that any more, or they'd have gone bankrupt!More recent experience with a brushcutter from 2010 has been mixed. Everything that could rust out or fall off it has, but the thing still works, even minus the red plastic bits, silencer etc.Not buying into it.0

I've had Honda lawnmowers for over 20 years, I'm on my 3rd or 4th new one, wouldn't buy anything else.
Hoondi ? Not for me. Honda have already achieved perfection so from my perspective Honda can never be bettered.
Honda offer a range of models. It's usually the deck or body of the mower that rusts through eventually, especially if you cut wet grass. They do offer models with plastic decks which will obviously not rust.0 -
Honda is the best but not as good as they used to be but it depends on how much your going to be cutting, if the Hyundia is half the money and your only using it for a hour or two each week then that's what I would have0

You can’t go far wrong with the quality and reliability of Honda. Get one with a poly or alloy deck as opposed to tin and it won’t rust out. Quality mowers are expensive to buy new but you can sometimes find good second hand ones for sale at local supply dealerships or in the private ads on gumtree. In my experience it is not how shiny and new a mower looks in the showroom but how it performs over many years of service.0

Both engines will last well if properly serviced and looked after. Lots of people assume a certain make of lawnmower is unreliable, but they are usually left untouched for 9 months of the year and can get gummed up with old fuel, or leaves/dirt/dust. Chnage the oil as per the book, put in a fuel stabiliser over winter or just run it dry of fuel before putting away. Make sure you don't start it up if the air filter or intake is full of crud etc etc. Also worth noting that pretty much all brands now have a budget range and a higher end range. You'll find the budget ranges all work fine but build quality is lower i.e. more plastic rather than metal. Compnents will break easier etc.My parents have had Honda, John Deere, Hyundai, all at varying prices. The engines are not always consistant with the brand either - Briggs and Stratton engines can be found in many other brands of mowers.0

Thanks for the comments.
I'm angling towards the Hyundai HYM430SPE but still haven't made a final decision.0
