easy jet seat prices

Easyjet has just tried to charge me a higher price for reserved seating because I booked a package holiday with them. Prices are higher for reserved seats on package holidays when compared to a flight only price. When I spoke to customer services about this they tried to tell me that there were 2 separate plans flying from birmingham on the same day at the same time with the same flight number. One plane was for flight only customers and the other was for package holidays. I have logged a complaint but I have not heard anything yet. Has anyone else had the same issue. Surely this is against consumer laws, how can they charge different prices for the same seat on a plane just because you have booked your holiday in a different way. Can anyone help?

You've booked a package, and I suspect the price of your accommodation is different (cheaper?) through the package than it would be booking directly with the hotel. How much would it have been for you to book flights and accommodation separately, and how does that compare to what you paid for the package?1 -
Nope, not illegal at all.1

Opposite way round
If I book a flight only with them I have to pay extra to add 23kg of luggage. If I book a holiday with them it's included .
Technically easyJet holidays is now a seperate entity to the airline part , I assume to protect the main business from failure of the holiday sectionEx forum ambassador

Also I've never been able to book seats on a Easyjet package holidays until 30 days before, so i assume you are traveling in the next few weeks?1 -
The moneysavingexpert way is to not pay to book your seats. But what they are doing is perfectly legal although I suspect the phone operator was talking nonsense about 2 separate planes0

The same as any retailer does not have to offer the same price in store as online, or local convenience store price can vary from Superstore.
You did not book seats on a plane.
You booked a package holiday which brings with it the specific rights that are not part of a simple plane seat booking.1 -
