Collect+ Store Delivery problems .. what do I refund as the seller

I sold a pair of trousers and the buyer opted for them to be sent to a local Collect+ store

Now I receive this message ..

"Hi. The collect+ store said they don t do collect+ anymore the option has not been removed from the system yet, so they will return the item to the sender.. Please issue the refund when you receive the belt pair back. Sorry for the inconvenience, a collect+ system error. Thanks"

Do I have to pay the post and packing rate I charged (£3.10) or just the price of the actual trousers

It was surely the responsibility of the buyer to check that the delivery option THEY picked was still valid

thanks !

But if the collect + system allowed the buyer to select that option you can't really blame them.  I would be expecting collect + to refund the cost of the failed delivery attempt rather than expecting your buyer to cover it.

As it stands with all online sales if a oarcel is not collected for any reason, the buyer gets a full refund. They can even just not bother to collect, and still get a refund, and seller pays the postage regardless.

This would be something to take up with the courier direct, if the amount involved is worth trying to get through the help system of any courier.

I was surprised though to see the name Collect +, I’d thought they were taken over by Yodel years ago, but looking online it appears I was mistaken.

OP here .. Just to clarify

I used Royal Mail and it was sent to a local store, which gave  eCP reference.

I only knew it was Collect+ when the buyer sent the message
