Online order - No postage update and no contact with company?

Options
I've been searching online for the best place to get help on this issue and have landed here. On the 1st of April I order a chef's knife for £39.99 from orient knives own website. I already own a knife from them that was bought for me as a gift, so I know the company and website are legit and reputable as well as many others  online recommending the knives.

I received the confirmation of order email minutes after placing the order but have had no update since to say it had been sent out ect. So I have tried to email them, it says the email is invalid. Then I tried to contact their Instagram and Facebook, no answer and they seem to be pretty inactive. Im at a bit of a loss for what to do, it's now the 11th and it was supposed to be a gift. Any help or advice would be really appreciated!

When did you get the knife as a gift and do you know it was ordered from the same website? The orient knives .com website says it's a trading name of liberty brands, which was dissolved in November 2023 according to companies house.

Your credit/debit card provider should be able to help

I would order another gift.  You can cancel your order with Orient knives even if it means you refusing delivery if/when they attempt to deliver

I have tried to cancel, this is my issue with not being able to contact the brand at all. There's no option to just cancel on my original order confirmation :(

I got the gift in 2021, I asked the person for the website shortly after in case I wished to buy some more as it's a nice knife.

Would the website still be usable/ active if the company was dissolved?

If by 1st May you haven't received your order, raise a chargeback request for non-delivery of goods with your card provider.

When websites hide their ownership that can give me pause, such that I'd research more into the company.

If they've paid for it in advance or whoever is hosting it hasn't cared about taking down something they haven't been paid for then yes absolutely.
The company is dissolved, there is no-one from the company anymore to do anything.

PS If you're really desparate for a particular knife (though I imagine they are probably generic knives rebranded) then you may be able to find some of the liquidated stock from other sellers, eg. I found this one with not too much effort
