Advice pl re setting of this flat

Can anybody advise how can you seperate the kitchen from the lounge? Do not like the set https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/158283278#/?channel=RES_BUY. All in one do not seem there is an option to separate with a settee, the layout nit keen on. Any ideas pl! Thanks

There does not appear to be any clear way to do this.

You could build a partition/divide out from the side of the fireplace say to  height of 5 feet to hide the kitchen when sat on the sofa but at best this would look clunky.

Some open plan rooms have the kitchen along one wall so you can sit with your back to it.

If you really do not like the set up then look for a property with seperate rooms.

I'm also not a fan of properties where the kitchen area is in the lounge.  I'd suggest finding somewhere else.

Thirded, when we bought  I wanted the lounge and kitchen to be separate - a kitchen/diner is fine, a lounge/diner fine... But not a kitchen/lounge/diner.

You'll probably need to keep looking - but this arrangement is very common on houses that have been divided into flats.

There isn't really an easy option for screening that off, although it does leave a nice big space for a dining table.

If you don't like the layout, look elsewhere.

Although many new build flats are exactly like that, even posher ones, because that is apparently what many customers want.
A family member recently moved into an upmarket development in the Midlands. Half a Million for a new 2 bed flat and kitchen/lounge/diner are all one space.

    I would hate that.

I don't see any sensible way of dividing it, so if you really can't live with it, you will have to look elsewhere.

Amazon has room dividers and screens.  You can then put the sofa on the side facing the window.  Wayfair have probably got some too.

Another option might be an ikea kallux unit.

Unfortunately I think it’s too small to be able to split the living room off. This looks like it was previously a studio flat which was rearranged to try and make it a one bedroom flat, but I agree it doesn’t really work.

I think the reality is it's a full house that's been split, originally this living room/kitchen was probably a large bedroom with rooms downstairs (another flat) being for the kitchen, lounge and dining room.

Our local Fire Brigade agrees.  Open plan lounge/kitchens are a fire hazard.
