What's wrong with small businesses? I prefer them to the huge beaucratic nightmare companies
I think a small business is far less reliable that a large company.
A small businesses profits can turn on a dime and could lose your job without much warning. Most don't offer matched pension contributions passed the minimum amount.
I’ve always found smaller companies to be better than the bigger ones who will decide to restructure every so often. The smaller employers I have had tend to look after their staff better in that you are not just a payroll number. Admittedly there are fewer opportunities to progress and the pension contributions are the minimum they are allowed but you have to weigh everything up.
You’ve checked 4 random employers within 30 miles of your house.
I’m not sure that’s statistically significant to draw conclusions on the job market.
