Have been using the site for guidance so far for a parking charge from April 21.

i wasn’t the driver of the car at the time and was wondering what my best options for my witness statement would be for this situation.

I’m at the N180 stage and just about to email my copies to the court and dcb.

Show us the EXACT defence facts you put in (if you used the template defence, please don't show us all of that!) and show us the claim form first page, covering your VRM, Claim no, MCOL password and your personal data.

Well, the POC date is incorrect,  same as many others

Its not a fine,  its a private Parking Charge Notice,  PCN,  an Invoice

N180 stage is a long way from needing a witness statement,  probably several months

so would my witness statement and evidence just be based on this:

    (d) if you are relying on a 'no keeper liability' argument, include a URL to Schedule 4 of the POFA and also exhibit the transcripts of Excel v Smith and VCS v Edward

No. It would be like other WS. Search the forum and read half a dozen from 2024/25.

Not sure when this change came about, but DCB Legal are now pre-loading interest on the top line of the amount claimed. Section 69 of the County Courts Act does not permit them to do this - nor is 8% the applicable rate. It is an abuse of the court's process on the same level as the fake £70 'damages' and, I suspect, an inflated court fee (my growing suspicion is that, as a court super-user, they pay less).

Just wanted to add something to this thread, I received my hearing date back in September. Hearing scheduled for mid December.

As of today I have 5 days to submit my witnesses statement to the court, so I thought I’d email the court to see if the trail fee was paid (fee was due by end of business 18/11/25) then I’d know that my WS would need finalising. The court replied within a couple of hours and have told me that no trial fee was paid as the claimant’s solicitor have filed a notice of discontinuance !!!!!!

Many thanks to all those threads and posts on here to help people like myself. It’s admirable the time you guys spend helping to fight these scammers.

Well done, a load off your mind - check your spam folders for the N279 discontinuance.

The N279 should come from the claimant's solicitors, usually by email.
