I bought a Samsung Heat Pump dryer direct from Samsung about 18 months ago. I also have a 5 year extended warranty.

Last week they came out to repair the machine due it overheating. The control board was replaced and all was well until today. The exact same error has occurred, so clearly the issue was not resolved with the board swap.

How many time do they get to repair before replacement? What about refunds, is this possible?

Here is a link to their T+C for the warranty

"EXTENT OF EXTENDED WARRANTY
During the Extended Warranty period Samsung continues to warrant that the Samsung
product shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship in accordance with the
original warranty statement provided with the product.
In the event that Samsung is unable to repair your product, Samsung may, at its discretion,
either exchange your existing product with a replacement product or provide you with a
refund.
When warranty service involves the exchange of a product or part, subject to applicable law,
the item replaced becomes the property of Samsung. The replacement may be a new or
repaired item. The replacement item assumes the remaining warranty period of the original
product.
Remote technical support may also be provided for the product(s)."

With warranty as many as they deem fit to do, before deciding to either exchange or refund (which could be subject to a deduction for usage).
     Unlike your consumer rights.

A warranty is down to the wordings, they can say whatever they like because it's on top of your statutory rights.

Under your statutory rights, which are with the retailer not the manufacturer, they get one attempt to fix or replace the device, after that you then have the right to reject the goods on a second fault. However if the item is over 6 months old then you have to prove it's an inherent fault and the refund can be reduced to reflect the use you had out of the goods before it became faulty.

As such the longer you've had the device the more chance that the warranty may provide a better resolution than a partial refund.
