Is now (with the current Trump turmoil) a good time to invest my savings in a with profits bond?

Been planning for a while to invest a sum into a bond scheme, but unsure if its wise to now with the current Trump fiasco, as, if I am correct, bonds schemes invest in America which seems close to chaos? My IFA said reputable companies who offer with profits bonds like the Pru for example, plan years in advance...but how much can they be negatively affected in these times. My question is basically has the risk gone up of losing money? Plan has always been to take the yearly interest but not touch the original invested amount. Hope this makes sense and thanks in advance.

There are multiple parts to that.

    a) using a life assurance tax wrapper (onshore investment bond probably - although it could be offshore investment bond)
    b) the selection of a rather obsolete investment method - With Profits.

Life assurance wrappers are not as tax efficient as pension or ISA and depending on your tax status and amounts involved, general investment account would usually come next with onshore investment bond last.

Asking about using an onshore investment bond to invest in With Profits is something you don't hear in 2025.  its more 1995.

Pru stopped offering With Profits funds years ago.  Its only available to those that have older contracts.   Their modern version isn't a patch on their versions from 25 years ago.

Plan has always been to take the yearly interest but not touch the original invested amount.
With Profits does not pay interest.  Nor does the modern version offered by Pru.
