Hi Nilrem, well if I've sold them, I certainly don't remember selling them and the guy I spoke to this morning at the number BG gave me, didn't tell me that only shares dated 13 Dec 1999 or later were valid. I am going to send a photo copy of the share certificate off to the address he gave me and see what they say. Maybe I've had a total memory lapse!
When the issue changes they send you a new certificate which nearly always states something like "This certificate of shares in BG group PLC replaces existing certificates of shares in British Gas PLC, which are no longer valid and should be destroyed"! Those are not the actual words used but they would have been similar. AFAIAA British Gas certificates would be worthless now, but I hope for your sake that I am wrong.0 -
I have been contacted by a company called 'Capita Tracing Solutions' who said they were contacting me in connection with unclaimed National Grid plc dividends. The dividends are either from National Grid plc itself, or one of the companies which became National Grid plc or one of the companies within its group. (i.e British Gas; BG Plc; Lattice Group; National Grid transco)
It's not a lot of money, but they want 15% admin. fee for reuniting me with these dividends.
Since I already get dividends regularly, how can I find out where these extra dividends are or if they even exist ??
Just as all roads lead to Rome, all attempts to contact any of these companies lead back to Capita Group Plc. It's a stitch up !
And why should I pay them 15% for giving me what I should automatically be getting anyway?

Hi,
Like Britrice I purchased 100 shares when British Gas originally floated. Assuming I took all the dividend as cash and the shares were then transfered into BG and Centrica and Capita shares etc. As I have done nothing with these since they were originally purchased could anyone tell me how much the total value of the different shares is worth now?
Many thanks.0 -

The best thing is to check with the registrar to determine exactly what you own and then you can look up value online.0 -
I suggest you contact Equiniti (formerly known as LloydsTSB Registrars) on 0121 415 7029 about your BG and Centrica shares and Capita (for National Grid shares ) on 020 7098 1198
They should be able to tell you how many charges you own in each company and which of your share certificates are valid..
This may also help.

Sunil
We were in a similar position through sharesave scheme. We had BG, National Grid, Lattice Group NGT and Centrica shares and the paperwork received each time new share certificates came through the post didn't explain properly what the new certificates were replacing. The only way to find out correctly is through Capita and Equiniti. We sold all our shares a couple of years ago through these people (Lloyds Registrars as they were then). If you don't want to pay call charges check online for alternative contact info to get the user references you need to do the sale. I know the ref that you need is on the share certificate somewhere but since its been a while since we sold ours I don't want to give you diff info. I do remember when we finally did sell that we sold BG and Centrica shares - all other shares in different company names had been transferred into these two companies. Hope this helps.MFW Challenge (Tgt Date Nov 07): ACHIEVED FEB 07!

I took out a Single Co PEP with BG years ago for the full £3000. As I understand it the other companies were taken over by BG so that I now have BG, National Grid, Centrica and the total value was about £14,000 before things started to go pear shaped. It may be more as I don't look at them often. Mine are looked after by a broker - I think single company PEPS had to be - and I get excellent reports and lists twice a year. According to Share.Com BG is rated as a buy as is N.Grid and Centrica is a Hold.0

Just looked. In total they are now worth about £12,700. Looks like last June was a good time to have sold if I intended to.0

Hello Davogs,
I'm in the same boat.
But I found out National Grid registra was Capita and so I sent them my new address, that was July last year, they said thanks.
This week I received a cheque from Capita Registras for dividends year ending 31 March 2009 but no mention of the unclaimed dividends.
So Capita know my correct address but don't see fit to send on my unclaimed dividends. Is that legal?
Is it any good complaining to the Financial Ombudsman? What can we do to make Capita Tracing Solutions release our unclaimed dividends? Is there anyone out there who can help?
