Opinion on Polti steam cleaners

I've decided it's time to buy a steam cleaner, after alot of research I've discovered Polti.

Are they good? Do they last?

I have the option to buy a brand new Polti Vaporetto Eco Pro 3.0 or a second hand Polti Vaporetto 2400 from 2001.

Any experience with either of these, wondering if the second hand one will be just as good, looks barely used, but it's 24 years old, has steam tech moved on much?

These cleaners start self-destucing from new. Even though I use softened water, the machine is breaking down. The switch quality is inferior, the machine over-heats and I get steam leakage from the handles and pipework. My machine is now old. I would urge you not to buy a secondhand one.

The first one we bought leaked straightaway and had to be replaced.

There are pretty awkward to use with lots of moving parts (or not moving when you want them to), they get dirty and they do not smell good - but that's the dirt that they are good at removing. 

I had a polti vaporetto around 15 years ago and i did use it a lot but my husband hated it.  It left the house.   I bought another one, second hand, around lockdown and I used it once and remembered why the last one left the house.  

 

If they were less clunky and awkward, they'd be amazing.

I haven't had a Polti but did have a Vax steam cleaner back along which is a similar shape and did the same.

I thought it did really well for it's time. Got pet hairs out of carpets and the carpets really clean.

It was a bit awkward and needed the towels changing frequently or stopping to refil.

I've now got the Vax carpet wash which I've had for about 12yrs and does a really good job. Much easier to manage and to push around.
