Home insurance when manufacturing cosmetics/ soaps from home

Options

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a home insurance that covers making soaps / bath bombs from home? My home insurance company wants to stop my cover as I informed them that I will be manufacturing from a room in my house. I am struggling to find insurance company that will offer competitively priced home insurance all because I run my business and make my products from home. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There are home business policies available - as you have found domestic policies are not likely to cover business activity.  They seem to be more difficult to get if you have customers coming to your house.  I found a suitable policy using a broker, but you can probably search on line to find something.  You would also be wise to have product liability cover which may well be included as standard.

FYI - you do not want to have a policy cancelled as this is something that you would then have to declare in the future when taking out insurance and it would have a cost impact. Best case is you cancel the current policy before the company cancels it.

Or probably difficult if you are storing lots of stock (or ingredients to make stock) at the house....

Probably simplest to find a broker, they can check your needs (stock, materials, process, visitors or not) and identify suitable cover, including product liability as already suggested.
