Hi All, I have been spending the last wee while skulking this forum for advice. I see people posting about debt collection etc and being referred to the "Newbie thread, 4th post down"... I have been trying to find the 4th post but can't seem to see it on my side for some reason. I am coming to all you smart people for some advice!
I live in Scotland and parked in a car park in my local town on the 2nd of Jenuary 2025. I honestly thought it was free Parking as it stated on the council website that it was free parking. However, I didn't realise that the car park (which used to be a council car park) was not a free car park. I was parked in the car park for 11 minutes.. that's all. I have been sent DCBL letters and I took the advice of people to ignore it. But this one seems more worrying to me.
I have attached the picture of the letter and was wondering if anyone else had been in the same position as me. I would never not pay for parking if I knew I had to so this was an honest mistake. But I think it's terrible they can charge me initially with a £50 fine for parking for 11 minutes.
Any advice would be great thank you! (Image removed by Forum Team)

Read the advice in the newbies sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum, which you appear to have missed, the newbies sticky thread was the 3rd thread down yesterday, click on it and scroll down to the 4th post, about ignoring the powerless debt collectors
The advice given for Scotland is simple
Ignore them0 -

Of course - like all posters - you can easily find the NEWBIES thread in a split second with just 2 clicks, even on a phone (on any device).
See my signature. You seem to have missed it!
Same advice as this other Scottish case ten minutes ago (except yours isn't a double dip case):

DCB don't sue in Scotland.
You aren't contacting them. Not that it matters. Read NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST (yes you can find it in a nanosecond).
This isn't a 'fine' and (in Scotland) you will not be taken to court by DCB so you can ignore this trash or send them the tried & tested Specsavers Scotland get lost reply (search the forum!).
Which PPC? Smart? Euro Car Parks?
Please show us this letter again but this time fully redacted of data, refs and QR codes. The Forum team removed it due to some personal identifying data on it. Please show it again.
Is it misleading you about suing you in the 'county court' that doesn't exist in Scotland?! If yes, I'd like that as evidence for the Government, please.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
