How to hang this picture on solid plastered wall

I have this picture that is lacquered back and front, so I daren’t drill into it. The hook is too near the top, so any wall hook is going to show above the picture. What can I use to attach it to the wall? It is quite heavy, so I’m unsure if a nail will hold it.

heavy duty fishing line to a hook much higher than the picture?  Do you have any dado rail or similar near the ceiling?  That would be a good place for a nail/hook.

Alternatively.  Find some sort of ribbon that suits the picture (gold? red velvet? black satin?) and make that a feature with the picture (tied in a bow?) and hide the nail behind that.

Or go to Lidl when they're selling art stuff and get one of their art easels.

    What weight is it?

What's the construction of the wall?

I'd just use a rawl plug and screw suitable for the wall material. Assuming its plasterboard and either dot & dab or stud wall and you arent near a stud there are plenty of small options available that should stay hidden behind like https://www.screwfix.com/p/easyfix-self-drill-plasterboard-fixings-metal-32mm-100-pack/2422h

Hardwall picture hangers have only a short plastic peg to hook the picture over.  Check the weight capacity before you buy, as they come in different sizes.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

I'd be VERY wary of using one of those. 1. We don't know it's hardwall and 2. The plastic hook bit isn't very strong and that looks like a fairly heavy picture

If you have a picture rail then you could try a rod from Scragg's.  They are very sturdy and although you will see the rod they are quite decorative.

Could you add extra, similar hooks either side of the existing one to spread the load? 🤔

    Thanks for all your ideas,

    Old house (1930s), solid wall.

I don’t know how I would add a hook to the picture.

    No picture rail unfortunately.

    It weighs 2.7kg.

The hook on the back of the picture doesn’t look very sturdy. Have you checked it takes the weight of the picture?

Assuming that’s okay, the simplest way to hang it is a screw sticking straight out of the wall. As suggested above by @DullGreyGuy

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I'd say a decent sized screw as well. Probably use something like a wafer head screw as the hook won't slip off easily, and the head is quite thin.

I'd second this, it also maked it very easy to fine adjust the distance the screw head protrudes from the wall to get it to hang just right.
