Wife was looking at Facebook and the Windows virus threat scam came up. Not sure what to do so reset the pad, and installed Avast app but the pad will not let me change the app permissions to allow it to scan the files. Its just greyed out.
Being a technophobe no idea why it wont let me do this.

The pre-installed Google Play Protect is fine for Android protection. I wouldn't try and force a 3rd party AV on the system.1

How do you expect a Windows virus to affect your Android tablet? As @vitor has already said there is no need for any additional AV product to be installed, even more so when the virus you're concerned about can't possibly impact you.1

Yes very true - Its presence alerted me to put some virus protection on the tablet if anything else came through from Facebook. Or am I worrying about nothing and the tablet cannot be infected with any virus pardon my ignorance of these things - been watching too much about it on the BBC?

Android mobis and tablets (but maybe not Amazon's Fire ones) are already protected by Google's Play Protect0
