Tax info please on annual annuity payments in arrears

I am looking at buying an annuity and would prefer to get an annual payment in arrears to maximise the annuity payout - however I am only willing to this is PAYE copes with it as a full income payment for the year - ie I would be taxed in an identical manner than if i had gone for a monthly payment. I cannot be doing with continually waiting or chasing a tax refund from the revenue as they are so slow to deal with. Can anyone confirm that the payment would not attract any emergency tax / or over tax issues every time. Thanks

The first payment would be on the emergency code but once a code is in place it can be taken as an annual payment in March.0
