Pc World Refund

Hi,

We recently bought a laptop for £1200. now the price has gone down to £1050. They didnt give any discount when we asked during the purchase time. Now i feel terrible that i have overpayed for an item. Is there a way i can approach them and ask for a refund? Not sure if this possible. but want to try. Any suggestion and feedback will be great.

Thanks.

You have not overpayed for the item. You paid the current value at the time of purchase. It may go down again in a few months - are you going to think that you have overpayed even more then? Electronics like this decrease in value over time.

Only within 7 days of purchase - that's covered under their standard price promise.

That's exactly my view especially as it was there choice to purchase that item so they must of been happy with the price.

You don't go back to your car dealer ranting and raving a month down the line just cause your new car isn't worth as much now do you.

I understand that. it has just been 20 days since we bought this. if it were months, i wudnt have bothered.

I just wanted to try. I knew iam being silly. but no harm in asking others.

    The lessons from this:
    1. Don't buy from PC World unless their deal is the best (which is very rare)
    2. Research the market - and ask around - on here for instance - read reviews online e.g. http://www.computershopper.co.uk/
    3. Make sure you check out on-line mail order sources: Dell, Dabs, Ebuyer, etc
    4. Order via Quidco or TopCashBack to get up to 5% back - see here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/cashback-websites
    5. Use a cash back credit card - American Express gives 5% back for the first 3 months, Capital 1 4% - check Martin's advice http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cards/cashback-credit-cards
    6. Don't pay over £1,000 for any computer unless you know it is what you NEED - rather than what you lust after ;)

    1. Don't buy from PC World unless their deal is the best (which is very rare) Only pc world and currys has this particular computer. i got laser printer, laptop bag and wireless mouse at a discounted price along with it. during that time it was a good offer to resist
    2. Research the market - and ask around - on here for instance - read reviews online e.g. http://www.computershopper.co.uk/. I did all my research online. i have also worked for HP and dell.
    3. Make sure you check out on-line mail order sources: Dell, Dabs, Ebuyer, etc
    4. Order via Quidco or TopCashBack to get up to 5% back - see here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/cashback-websites . i wanted to go to the store and speak to the sales people and get a deal for the accesorries, which i did. when u order online u dont get the same deal.
    5. Use a cash back credit card - American Express gives 5% back for the first 3 months, Capital 1 4% - check Martin's advice http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cards/cashback-credit-cards .
    6. Don't pay over £1,000 for any computer unless you know it is what you NEED - rather than what you lust after ;) . It wasnt a lust, something i needed. it had everything i "needed" and not "wanted"

iam ok if i cant get a refund. just trying.

    silly thing!

in this day and age anyone who pays >£500 for a laptop must be really stupid!
decent laptops can be had for just £233 (and that is NEW from Dell)
the residuals on laptop is phenomenal your £1200 laptop will in tweleve months be just £400.
more money than sense? you are most definately not a MSE if you can spend £1200 on a laptop!

Thank you Denise for your opinion. laptop price ranges from £200 to thousands. Just any laptop will do to check emails and money saving expert website and use MS office. If you want a better performing laptop, u have to pay. please avoid calling someone "stupid". just because your usage of computer is less, doesnt mean its the same for everyone.

MSE not necessarily go for cheap stuff all the time. You also have to keep in mind the quality. U can get an item for lesser priced and use for a year and then throw it away. or pay more and use for more than a year.
