Santander and Open Banking transfers

I know in the past people have had issues when sending larger value transfers from Santander using Open Banking. Having account blocked, being (wrongly) told it is higher risk of fraud, etc. I wondered if this had improved? Asking as I will be making such a transfer next week and wonder if I'm better off routing via a different bank.

That doesn’t sound like an Open Banking transfer though? I have several Coventry accounts, none offers deposits through Open Banking.

I fear the worst every time I want to make larger transfers from Santander but can’t say I had any issues at all for several months now. Not many of my transfers are via OB though, as it’s still very rare that we can use it for transfers. I have recently OB-shifted larger 5 figure amounts to Chip and Trading 212 without any issues but most of my transfers are still traditional FPs. Only yesterday, I moved over £15k to a brand new payee in my name, COP matched, without problems. I also regularly move 5 figure amounts to GB Bank, again traditional FPs.

Like always, your mileage may vary…… You may be unlucky and get pulled up like @david29dpo was. If your transfer is time-critical, may be you could set up a future payment, or a one-off SO right away? These seem to always get executed on time. Good luck anyway, please share what happened.

I threw caution to the wind and decided to give it a go with £15k (having done a test transfer yesterday). No issues at all. I had to use Open Banking on this occasion as the only other option was direct debit, which I did not want to wait for. No way of pushing this payment unfortunately.

Good to hear it worked w/o issues. May be their automatic fraud check routines are more sophisticated now and don't pull people up so often.

I much prefer deposits by OB myself as I find it generally faster than setting up a new payee and faffing about with COP.I hope we will see more accounts which can be fed by OB.

i'm completely fed up with Santander and open banking.

i always just get a blank white screen when transferring to Santander to authorise payment?

    is this what others experience?

i've deleted and reinstalled app many times and have the latest app version

I always get content on that screen with warnings relevant to the payment reason I selected. Sounds like some sort of app issue.

Never got blank screens at Santander m. This is on an iPhone, latest iOS and latest Santander app version.

It could be an issue with pop up blockers, or with the OB service your receiving bank uses. Have you got the option to try the deposit through a browser rather than through the app?

Another possibility is that the content is being pulled from a web server that is being blocked. This could be an ad-blocking service of some sort, or security software.

i have latest santander app but not ios
yeah can force through browser route by deleting santander app but massive pain having to delete then reinstall daily!
weird thing it's worked fine for ages, then stopped working at beginning March for about 10 days
however started working again but then hasn't for last 10-14 days..

FWIW, I use Android and have the same experience as friolento, so it is probably not a OS thing.
To avoid having to delete and reinstall the app you could just log in on a web browser to make the payment. If it is working on the same device in a browser, that suggests the content blocking theory is not correct.
