House alarms - any recommendations?

Hi all,

I already have a Ring doorbell, so perhaps that's an option. Something without an ongoing subscription would be a bonus.

Any good or bad experiences which you'd like to share?

I have an alarm, when it goes off it makes a noise and no one takes any notice. I have Blink cameras that send to my phone video of any movement, much more useful (and cheaper).

The alarm on the front of your house is presumably a deterant though?

I too have cameras set up. Silly not to in this day and age when they are all-but free. I have Tapo cameras. Plus a Ring doorbell, which I do pay a fee for.

A monitored system like verisign is basically wireless cameras that you can buy yourself . They sell it on 24 hour monitoring and " we send our operative" but there's no obvious promises about how long they take to respond. They also sell it as " we inform the police" but again they have no priority access to police responses so it could be hours before they respond. An experienced burglar will spend 5 to 10 minutes max in your property scooping up things and then leave .

Cameras provide you with some peace of mind

Alarm boxes are cheaper than alarm systems!

That's true. And I have a dumby alarm box. I just think that people maybe can tell? Better to have one that's clearly got power going to it so that people can't be sure if it's going to go off or not.
