So this door is one that is the first in the concertina of the bifold and moves along the track?  I think you'll struggle to find something ideal for this.  Personally I wouldn't be keen on a kick style lock, as it could place undue pressure of somebody standing on the open door if they catch the stay in the wrong way.  On my own bifolds, our access door is stand alone from the concertina, and I was able to add a fairly standard friction restrictor/stay to the top of the door, same as you'd find on standard french doors - this of course isn't suitable for a door that swings 180 degrees and slides up and down a track.

Yes, it's that exact scenario. And, yes, this door is the first of a 3-section door, and i'm not aware of a friction-type stay that would do the job.
I'd be happy to recommend a press-down 'kick' bolt, if i could find one with a 100+mm throw - the fellow would just need to be careful.
Looks as tho' it's going to be a conventional slip bolt, and a few suitable holes in the decking. A 'monkey-tailed' type looks good for ease of use, but again the lack of throw is an issue.
    Cheers.

What do you mean the gap is too large for a stoppy? We use them on our french doors - the stoppy goes in the small gap between the door and the frame, not the big gap you walk through. They work great.

It slips under the opened door, yes? The gap this fellow has is around 100mm, alas.
Are they nicely secure? Would you use it happily on an outward opening door in stiff breeze?
No, they slip into the gap when the door is opened at any height down the side i.e. where the door meets the frame it's hinged on, they slide in there. They squeeze in and create a wedge. yes, we use them on our french doors as well as the front door which all open outwards. We used them for some of last summer and no doubt there was some wind. We didn't use them in the Autumn when there may have been more wind but we didn't need the doors wedging open. I think they come in different sizes, so there should be one for 100mm opening. I've no interest in the product, it's just we had about half a dozen of these left to us when we moved into our house last year.

    How about https://nwco.co.uk/products/door-stop-with-a-slot-for-patio-doors?srsltid=AfmBOoqn-bcDp2Vdx3dW5i4PVnEjsoKKaxBp8b3e2GuLSa0yAkc3Xamn

Although this being MSE, it might be cheaper to get 2 heavy door stoppers from The Range and put each on each side.

Nice! I did suggest, since the guy has a terrific builder doing jobs for him, that a block just like that could be a solution.
He's gone easy, tho' - and ordered two slip bolts!
    Thanks all.

Just to add - my dad has that slot doorstop from NWCO and it’s genuinely brilliant.

His bifolds are exactly the kind that swing right out, and this thing holds them in place without any fuss. No screws, no drilling — you just pop the door into the slot and it stays where you want it. Even in gusty weather.

It's a solid bit of kit too, not like those flimsy wedge things. Feels properly made, Oak, I think, and it actually grips the floor instead of sliding about.

I thought he’d wasted his money at first, but credit where it's due it works really well. Might be a bit more than two bricks from The Range, but does the job properly.

I find a couple of kettle bells works well (better than actual doorstops - and they have a loop at the top - I can lift one (10kg) with my foot to move it.

    Good stuff - thank you.
I'll have to see what he ended up doing, and how well it works.

Good idea - 2-in-1 workout regime and one must not miss a leg workout.

I use vintage metal cobbler's lasts as doorstops.

He's gone for slip bolts, and a series of holes in his decking. Works a treat, apparently
