Replacing Garage Door?

Previous owner of my house fitted a roller door to the single garage complete with remote control units. It's all become unreliable and I'd like to replace the system,
- Been quoted £1500-£2500 for a luxurious replacement with insulation, etc by a local firm.
- But I don't need remote control, garage is used for storage
- Garage is detached from the house so I don't care about insulation
- I think I need a basic but solid manual up and over door
- Not sure how to find a decent firm. There are lots of companies advertising themselves as local to my town but turn out to be local to everywhere but based hundreds of miles from me.

where I live there are various groups on facebook and often people ask for recommendations for work like this - might be worth searching on these for garage doors - agree should be able to find someone to do a standard door for you0

There are several people working from their homes around here that do that sort of thing, all I can suggest is look around, ask neighbours or, as suggested above, look on a local Facebook page.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

In terms of security I favour the electric operated one - found a real local supplier.
Edit - how old is the existing ? Mine's 20 and as good as new.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

A little different for us, but worth a look?
We used to put our car in our integral garage, but as each new model grew in size it became harder to squeeze in...
Finally threw in the towel when we bought a VW T Cross (Polo on steroids) and, as the 30 year old up-and-over door was starting to warp, we changed it for side hinged double doors. Ideal for our garage's re-incarnation as a workshop plus, as garage doors go, they look good with no mechanical bits to fail.1 -
We have 2 single Hormann (German I think) doors, installed when we had the house built back in 1988, both electrically operated, one by a Hormann mechanism and one by a Henderson unit which was originally in our previous house garage, so must be about 5 years older. Both still work fine, there is not a lot to go wrong, would not want to be without the remote control opening.
The door surfaces themselves are made from T&G hardwood installed in a metal framework, we bought the frames and fitted the wood in the pattern we wanted, it makes for interesting doors which only need a coat of a good quality wood finish about every 10 years.
Have not had a car in the garage for a very long time, must be about 18 years, as OH has taken it over for his hobby of wood turning. I doubt our present cars would fit in through the doors now even if the garage was cleared out.1
