Can I Separate an Amazon Kindle Account?

I have an Amazon account in my name and email address and I have various tablets and computers all linked to this account including my wife's tablet which has the Kindle app on it which of course is John's Kindle for tablet no 7 as all her books are bought and downloaded from my Amazon account.
My wife has decided that she wants her own Kindle account so that her Kindle app on her tablet is wife's Kindle for tablet not John's kindle for tablet no 7.
Since this tablet is a few years old and she can never read her books outside when it is sunny and also can never buy new books as the kindle app does not allow it.
She always has to go into my Amazon account to buy books.
She wants a Kindle Paperwhite and she wants it to be wife's Kindle not John's Kindle.
Is this possible and can all her books currently in my Kindle be downloaded to another Kindle in her name?

If you're on Android, the kindle app doesn't allow purchasing books due to a dispute between Amazon and Google.
If you get your wife a new kindle, she can have her own kindle and Amazon accounts, and you can still share books by adding her to your "household" and you can share a Prime subscription if you have that. If you add her to the household, she can download her books
The settings on the kindle can also then be changed to show only downloaded books and Mrs John's books.
If you buy a kindle for her, they may come "with ads" you can pay an extra £10 or so to remove them.0 -

If all you really want to do is change the name of the device then you can do this through your Amazon account hamburger menu (top left) \ kindle ereaders & books \ Manage your content and devices.
Select the 'devices' tab and then select the device type. If you then click on one of the devices in the list you will be able to change the name.Past caring about first world problems.0 -
