HDR only kicks in with HDR content, of which there is very little on broadcast or streaming. HDR also makes images a lot better, so I cannot understand why you would want to turn it odd. As for "glossy type cinema effects" I am not actually sure what you mean, if you mean special effects, motion blur etc. then they are in the content, not the TV. The TV may offer upscaling when fed a low resolution signal, the results of that do vary depending on the TV, but it is almost alway better tha looking at a blocky pixellated mess.gadget88 said:I am looking at new tvs as my old one is quite old. Unfortunately user manuals are very basic regarding settings, your best bet is an internet search for "best settings for Samsung XXXX" if you do buy one.0

Samsung has Auto Motion Plus which you can turn off.0

Those settings would have HDR on without any doubt.Ayr_Rage said:Unfortunately user manuals are very basic regarding settings, your best bet is an internet search for "best settings for Samsung XXXX" if you do buy one.
The question is why the OP wants to turn it off? Once you take the TV off Vivid or Dynamic picture mode the acid trip will stop and HDR will do what its supposed to do which is a good thing.0 -
Motion Blur is a function of the TV and can be turned off. Samsung are one of the worst for picture processing but you can turn it off.MattMattMattUK said:
