Tesco Bank and Lowell

I've had some debt issues in the past, all sorted now. I have one CCJ remaining on my credit report.
One of the debts I had was with Tesco Bank. It went bad many years ago (more than 6) and Tesco Bank passed it to Lowell (or one of it's subsidiaries). In that time a CCJ was registered. The debt was written off about 3 years ago and the missed payment has not come up on my credit report since. The CCJ does not appear on my credit report so it must be more than 6 years.
A few months ago, Tesco bank wrote to me and said that, due to an administrative error, when they chased me for the debt all those year's ago, they should have provided some statutory information, which they didn't. Tesco Bank said that as compensation, they would offer be around £400 to be credited to my account. As my account had been passed on for collection, they would provide the compensation to Lowell. I thought that was fair play, so I just let it go.
A couple of weeks ago, I received a letter from Lowell, saying they now require me to pay £400 odd to them in respect of the debt. Lowell don't seem to realise that Tesco have already told me that they have paid them the money.
So, to be clear...
I had a debt with Tesco Bank.
Tesco Bank chased me for the debt then passed it to Lowell.
Tesco stopped registering the missed payments against my credit report.
A CCJ was obtained over 6 years ago.
Lowell and Tesco have not made any approach to me on this issue for many years.
Tesco Bank admitted to non-compliance and offered me compensation.
Tesco Bank told me that they would pay the compensation to Lowell as they now own the debt.
Lowell have contacted me and told me they require me to pay the same value of the compensation they have received from Tesco.
Sounds illegal (or at least totally unprofessional) to me.
But here's my questions -
If Tesco have admitted non compliance and paid compensation, shouldn't the CCJ be totally expunged? Although the CCJ doesn't appear on my credit record, it still exists.
Has anyone else had compensation from Tesco Bank (for non compliance) paid to Lowell, then Lowell start chasing for money?

Lowell can ask for anything they like, doesn't mean they will get it, place them on your ignore list.
Obtaining a CCJ for non payment of a debt, and failure to provide you with some statutory information, are two entirely separate issues, one has no cause nor effect on the other.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
