Small Claims

Hi I am new here so I hope I am doing this right 
I have issued a small claims against British Gas over monies owed due to a faulty meter ,they have replied to the court saying they intend to defend the whole claim which they have until 14-4-25 to send In Their defence , last night I received an email from their solicitor asking for me to agree to an extended period of another 14 days ,
should I allow this or not

Welcome to the forum.

If you're sure of your case I'd be inclined not to agree to any postponement.  It seems it's just a delaying tactic with the aim of tiring you out so that you don't pursue it.

They may well not turn up, in which case you'd probably win by default, or they may suddenly at the last minute decide not to defend it.

Unless there's something you've not said, I can't see how you'd benefit by allowing them more time.

But any comments can only be pure guesswork since we know nothing about the claim or about the evidence either side might bring. There's a vague possibility that BG might claim you're acting "unreasonably" if there's a genuine valid reason for them needing more time.

You say Small Claim but assuming this is England or Wales the Track won't have been allocated yet. Be aware that the strict costs limit for a Small Claim don't apply yet.
