Just to complicate matters, my usual ipad charger is no longer working, so the alternative is a much slower one right now.
The only way I can see new emails is on my laptop, not on my iphone or ipad.
I am not sure if I can see new messages on my ipad and iphone as I have no way of checking if there are any new ones till morning when I can ring someone.
I have tried to update passwords on both devices but getting nowhere fast.
My laptop keeps trying to help me sign in to Apple but then says it cannot reach the server.
I seem to be going round in circles .

when you say you've changed your password on your pc -
is this a windows PC?
Is it the password that opens up the pc or the mail application on the pc?
what do you use for mail on the pc - outlook? or gmail via a web page?
which app do you use on the ipad and iphone to access mail - the built in "mail" or another app?
Answers to this will help1 -
Yes it is a windows PC. I can get into everything on the pc.
I changed my password on my BT Premium mail account on my PC, just as a precaution following various phishing emails.
I think I use built in email on my ipad and iphone. I get error messages from BT server, cannot download, Go to security settings, but in Settings, Security I cannot find any way to change anything to do with email.
I have changed my Apple password but got locked out of my other device as I then failed security. When I say Locked out, I can use it for many things, but not anything which requires passing security. They suggest logging in from another device but that doesn't work either. I get passcodes sent, but they arent being accepted.0 -
To update the password in the Mail app on iPad/iPhone:
-
Open Settings on iPhone/iPad.
-
Scroll down and tap Mail.
-
Tap Accounts.
-
Tap the account which connects to BT Mail (it may say Yahoo or IMAP depending how it was set up).
-
Tap Account again at the top.
-
Update the Password field with the new BT password.
-
Tap Done at the top-right to save.

Yes, but it seems to be draining too rapidly. That's a different issue though.
Update. I managed to somehow get into my Mail on my phone and changed the password, so am now receiving emails on my phone ( not yet on my ipad) but I am unable to send any out. It asks me to change my password. I am reluctant to do that as I don't want to lose access again.0 -
It’s just asking you to update the password to what you changed it to.You’ve changed the password. The iPad can’t guess what you’ve changed it to. You need to tell it. That’s what it is asking.2

Update.
I’m still unable to send emails from devices, despite updating BT password in settings,
nor can I forward a document which arrived on Whatsapp to my printer, if that is relevant.0 -
Are the iPad and iPhone still connecting to your home WiFi ? Maybe you changes the SSID password too?1

No problems with internet on both devices.0

Update. After two weeks of trying everything else, and reaching the stage of being able to receive but not send emails, I have deleted and reinstalled my email accounts from both phone and ipad and emails are now working properly.
Thanks for the various suggestions.1
